In 1998 we approached CIT for a grant to help us link older, retired Christian Teachers with volunteering opportunities to share their skills with educators across the world. Speaking with the CIT Director helped us shape our ideas and - though CIT declined to financially support us -- the advice we were given has really helped our organisation develop, seek and achieve other support. It showed us that getting support for our organisation was not just about money. 8 years later, SVN is thriving and expanding its educational work across the developing world. We have sent individuals and teams to over 40 different projects in 30 different countries, making available training and consultancy that the recipient communities could never have afforded'.
